the RecordsKeeper database system was designed to run on personal computers using the Windows operating systems.
Because of the large amount of data that is portrayed on several of the screens, a large (preferably wide) screen with a relatively high screen resolution is optimal but not necessary. Screens will scale automatically to whatever screen size and resolution you are using, but the larger the screen and the higher the resolution, the clearer and more pleasing the results will be. Because screens are scaled to suit your computer when they open, you may experience some time delay when changing screens. Computers with higher levels of memory and faster processing speeds will reduce this delay, as can be expected.
No other requirements (hardware or software) are necessary.
Download
Click the 'Download' link that follows this paragraph, then 'Save' the file to a folder on your computer. When the download is complete, open the folder and then double-click the 'setup.exe` file that was saved to initiate the installation of the application. You may also just click 'Run' to install the application without saving the installation file if you wish.

The default installation folder is 'C:therecordskeeper' and the application will be installed in this folder if you click the 'Standard Installation' button. You may choose to install the application in another folder by clicking the 'Advanced Options Installation' button.
If you select the 'Advanced Options Installation' and install in an alternative location, you will be asked to specify where a file named `RKTables.accde` is located when the application starts for the first time. This is because it will be looking for that file in the default directory. The file will be located in the folder that you chose to install to.
The download procedure should take approximately 2 minutes if you are using a high speed internet service. The procedure will take considerably longer if you are using a slower service. The installation procedure should also take 2 to 3 minutes, depending on the speed of your computer.
Note that you can use the RecordsKeeper without the need for an 'Unlock' code for up to 30 days. If you wish to continue using the RecordsKeeper after that time, you will need to purchase a copy and acquire an 'Unlock' code.
Note also that if you downloaded your copy prior to May 10, 2010, you should download and install the RecordsKeeper again to repair any minor bugs and issues that have been discovered and resolved since you originally downloaded the application. Your data will not be affected by this procedure.
The latest release is version 2, released on January 21, 2012 (Build (0012). This release features the ability to modify data field names at the individual record level. It also contains fixes for lost amount data and encrypted user names.

you may have to re-establish a linkage to your data when you next open
the application.
To
do this, you must sign in as the default user after you have installed
the upgrade. Open the 'System Options' screen, select option # 6, then
click the 'Change Database Location' button.
On
the screen that opens, ensure that the 'Path and Filename' box contains
the location of your table file, then click the 'Refresh' button. When
you sign in again, your data will be available to you.
